F.A.Q.’s

What is the South Orlando Rowing Association??
We are the club rowing program that created, successfully supported and ran the Boone High School Crew team from 1986-2011.  We helped to start the Lyman High School Rowing progam in 2005.
We have a 25 year history of success including multiple City, State, and National medals. We own a fleet of 12 elite level rowing shells. We are a long-standing member of the Florida Scholastic Rowing Association and US Rowing.  Our Coaches, rowers and alumni work hard to continue the SORA traditions of supporting and expanding the sport of rowing throughout Central Florida.
Who can row for the South Orlando Rowing Association?
We are now accepting student athletes  from all over Central Florida who are interested in learning to row and competing throughout the State of Florida (and the SE United States).  Private School, Charter School, Public School and Home School students are invited to give rowing a try!
Is rowing expensive?
We have an extensive fundraising network and many opportunities to help offset costs for the individual rower.  Tuition and regatta fees  are very managable through scholarships, car washes, Amway concessions, ad sales, poinsettia sales and other opportunities throughout the year.  We will never turn away a rower who cannot afford tuition; we do expect families to make every effort to help fundraise to offset rower costs.
It is not uncommon for families (even families with two rowers) who are active in concessions at amway to end the year with a credit on their account!!
