The 2011-2012 season is right around the corner!! As we gear up for the hard work, challenges, friendship, fun, and the satisfaction that commitment to a team can bring, we hope you will consider the sport we love.
We compete against other local teams, regional teams, state teams, as well as national teams. We challenge all high school students (including athletes of other disciplines) to come and be a part of our team, the SORA team. Learn what it’s like to be out on the water with a great group of people, getting in your best athletic shape, while competing at the highest levels of sport.

Thinking of joining? What you need to know.
Who sponsors SORA?
SORA, or South Orlando Rowing Association, is a non-profit organization comprised of rowers, parents, alumni and coaches.
How much does it cost?
Athletes pay an initial upfront dues. The remaining costs can be raised via fundraising activities.
What about practices?
Practices begin in September and are held at Moss Park. A physical is required and athletes take a swimming test.
When and where are races?
Races, or regattas, are held Saturdays in the Spring, and there are even a few in the Fall. Most are in Orlando, while a few may be in other Florida cities.
Can students successfully juggle school and Crew?
Absolutely! Crew teaches discipline and time management needed to succeed. Many of our rowers are tops in their classes and hold high GPAs and carry heavy AP course loads. One of the Class of 2011 Boone High School Validectorians was a four-year rower for SORA.
